Majlis tents are deeply rooted in Arab culture and tradition, serving as a significant aspect of social life in Gulf countries. For decades, families and friends have convened in a Majlis during sunset. Despite the influence of globalization and economic development, the design of the Majlis has endured with a few modern twists that signify the harmonious blend of Arab and Western influences.
Over time, mats have been replaced by handmade carpets, and traditional Arab ‘Tekay’ (Arabic cushions) have been introduced along with a long rectangular mattress, known as ‘Doshak.’ This setup allows guests to sit comfortably for extended periods, maintaining the timeless essence of the Majlis while incorporating elements of contemporary comfort and aesthetics.
